The Survivalon jacket. I guess this is some kind of famous sailing jacket. Don’t know much about sailing, so I’ve never heard of it, but apparently it’s been around since the seventies. The jacket’s made of a special fabric, at least according to the inventor who goes by the very cool name of Bert Pulitzer:

“ I grew up in Long Beach NY at the beach and on boats, at that time there were no well made sailing jackets. It took many years of searching for something that was a real and genuine fabric that was designed for durability, was water repellent and was made with natural fiber. One day, circa 1974, a mill representative came into my office and dropped a 6″ x 6″ piece of fabric and said ‘Pulitzer, here is your fabric but I know that you will never use it because it is too expensive.’ I picked it up and said, ‘I’ll take 5,000 yards!’ Then, after a few minuets of caressing the fabric, I asked ‘OK, how much?’ He told me and I responded with ‘You’re nuts!’ to which his response was, ‘I told you that you will never use it.’ But I took the 5,000 yards.”
